(881) "Portents of Genius" is a 26" x 45" oil painting on canvas. In it the young genius is abstractly warped by experiences in his life. He sees himself as in a jail cell, trying to break out with an ice pick. The portrait on the wall focuses on his concern about how sex influences his modes and actions. The cinder blocks suggest the jail is in fact transitory and made up of many cumulative single events.

(880) "Calypso" is a 31" x 50" oil painting on canvas of a local carnival ride into which have been placed giant heads. Each head portrays a different emotional state. The painting suggests that emotional states are often wild things. But, this is a bumper car ride so we are given some control. Not shown is the mechanism that enables one emotional state to change into another. Life is a carnival at times.

(879) "The Bridge" is a 28" x 42" oil on canvas painting that contrasts the high tech urban world on the right with the agrarian support world on the left. The left side is in danger from all the waste generated on the right. Somehow the system must come into balance if its individual components are to survive.

(878) The Bride Eat's Off the Head of The Groom at Her Wedding
by Ciro'

3-D sculpture made from ready-made and found object's. The feature-less face of the bride is made of Amber and the dress was made up from part of a wedding veil.

The bouquet the bride is holding is from a hornet's nest (that I found in my backyard) and sitting inside it facing the bride is a little headless plastic figurine of a man (I found broken) from one of my miniature train set's.

(877) Talking Statue's
by Ciro'

The oil painting is reminiscent of the disfigured Roman street corner torso called Pasquino or little pope where protester's and poet's hung anonymous slogan's and insult's against the Pope of Rome during the 15th century.

(876) Birth of the Purple Phallus
by Ciro'

A hand-carved phallus from a seashell mounted in a scallop shell (reminiscent of Botticelli's famous painting the - Venus) and plastic resin hood ( from a glow-in-the-dark toy ghost I salvaged from a Halloween Board Game) hovering over it, illuminated by a black light to represent the purple cloth that were once placed to cover the statue's of saints in a Roman Catholic Church during the Lenten Season before Vatican II abolished the practice sometime during the early 1960's.

(875) Gallery 291
by Ciro'

Pre-WW II U.S. Postal Mailbox from 291.

Each mail compartment of the mail-box contains a ready-made or found object illuminated by a variety of multicolor light bulbs and black lights.

In 1905, the American photographer Alfred Stieglitz opened his first art gallery at 291 5th Avenue in NYC. In 1917, the building on E.31st. Street that housed the gallery was demolished.

(872) Pope Who ?
By Ciro'

Relic (bone-fragment) from unknown Pope of Rome

The relic was placed inside a 1960's plastic Visible Women Model Kit (made in the U.S.A.) instead of using a reliquary used by the Church ( a container for the physical remains of saints, such as bones, pieces of clothing, or some other object) etc., I decided to put the Pope's relic (bone fragment) inside the body of a woman from which he came from perhap's many centurie's ago.

(871) Dead Horse Bay
oil on canvas
by Ciro'

During the 1800', the carcasses of dead horses were processed into fertilizer, leather & glue in a factory along the shore of Dead Horse Bay in Brooklyn, NYC & their bones were dumped into the bay, hence the name Dead Horse Bay.

(868) Butterfly 1992 -
oil on canvas - Ciro'

My painting depicts the ruins of the Castle Rocca Secca (dry rock) near Aquino, a small town located between the Italian cities of Rome & Naples where in one of the rooms the then 5 year old future Roman Catholic theologian St. Thomas Aquinas (and his younger sister) slept where she was struck by a bolt of lightning & killed during the night of a severe thunder storm sometime in the year 1230.

The name "Butterfly" came about by chance when an old friend of mine who saw it remarked that I had painted a very unusual giant butterfly.
